In Luke 8:4-15 Jesus tells us the parable of the sower. In it is revealed the fruitfulness or lack of fruitfulness of four kinds of people. The first group is not bearing fruit (winning souls to Christ) because they don’t believe and therefore are not saved to begin with. Of course we couldn’t expect to see them lead anyone to Christ. The other three groups are believers. The first group that is described as falling away from fruitfulness do so because of “temptation.”

The second group of unfruitful believers cares more about the riches and pleasures of this life than the eternal destiny of those headed for the lake of fire.

The last group is those that are characterized as having an honest and good heart. They listen to the Word, keep it and then bring forth fruit with patience.

Apparently, the most important characteristic of a soul winner is an honest and good heart. If there is something that you feel you have to lie about or that you feel you have to hide, that’s probably the very thing that is keeping you from being an effective soul winner.

What does it mean to win souls? It simply means that you effectively share what Christ has done.

What has He done? He has taken all of our sins and paid for them by dying on the cross. When He did that, He did everything that was necessary to get you heaven. All you have to do is trust His death payment for your sins. Trust Him. He’s trust worthy. Then if you want to have a happy, peaceful life full of love, serve Him.   Pastor Jerry

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

This verse may well be the most quoted verse in the Bible. It has aptly been called “The gospel in a nutshell,” It tells us everything that we must do to get to heaven.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…” Notice that all of the work is done by God. He did all of the loving and all of the giving.

“That whosoever believeth in Him…” Notice that the only condition for us to fulfill is to believe in Him. What’s more this condition is offered to everybody.

“Should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Notice that result of faith in Christ is two fold. One is present, and one is future. In the present we have everlasting life right now. Rev. Bob McCurry said that every denomination believes in eternal security. All churches teach that once you have life in heaven, you can never lose it. The question is, when do you get it? Many churches teach that you can’t be sure of eternal life until you get to heaven. The Bible teaches that we have eternal life right now, if we trust Jesus to get us to heaven. Also, it is obvious that if we get eternal life right now, and it is eternal, then it has to last us forever. The other thing that we can know from this verse is future. “Should not perish.” We don’t know much about the future, but we can know that we shall never perish or be sent to the lake of fire.

If you have never trusted Jesus to get you to heaven, why not trust Him right now?                 PASTOR JERRY
